acutonics®

Acutonics® is an integrative approach to health care grounded in Oriental Medicine, cosmology, Taoist philosophy, depth psychology and sound healing principles.

This effective non-invasive methodology works with the vibratory energy of sound.  The vibrations of planetary bodies are brought into the therapeutic setting through the use of precision-calibrated tuning forks, planetary gongs, and hand chimes. Acupressure points and chakras provide non-invasive access into these core energy systems within the body.  The planets provide musical intervals, archetypes, psychological depth, and correspondences that help us to fine-tune the therapeutic frequencies that are applied to the body.

Practitioners from diverse backgrounds are trained in the Acutonics® integrative care model which recognizes the whole person, body, mind, and spirit and all aspects of lifestyle. Acutonics® believes in the creation of partnerships between practitioner and patient, student and teacher, and in finding the right balance between conventional and alternative health care models that facilitate the body’s innate wisdom to heal.  This approach to health and wellness embraces the concept of a musical and undivided universe--a belief found throughout time, across cultures, and many healing and spiritual traditions, where numerous references cite the power of sound to create, generate, transform, and give birth to new ideas and new consciousness.

Acutonics was co-developed by Donna Carey, PhD,LAc, while she was clinical dean of an acupuncture college and has evolved over the past 20 years through the combined efforts of Donna, Ellen Franklin, PhD, and more than 50 Acutonics instructors who teach this work around the globe. It is a modality that makes the basic principles of Oriental Medicine accessible in a non-invasive way and provides an adjunct therapy that integrates beautifully into clinical practice, in spa treatments and at home. Practitioners of Acutonics include physicians, nurses, acupuncturists, massage and bodywork therapists, energy medicine practitioners, and many other health care providers.  Acutonics is also being used in the treatment of animals, particularly horses, dogs and cats.

Acutonics® tuning forks

Acutonics® tuning forks are tuned to planetary frequencies based on the orbital velocities of the planets.  The precision-calibrated forks are made from space-grade aluminium at a medical instrument facility in the United States.  The mid and low forks have resonators to prolong the vibration of the tuning fork, and are color coded to make identification instant and easy.  The tools are pleasing to hold and behold, and are of the highest quality available--delivering clear, consistent, and precise resonant information.

There are three octaves of tuning forks: low, mid, and high; which have developed over time in response to feedback from practitioners.  The mid forks were the first to be developed, being used anywhere on the body, and in the bio-field.  Low forks allow for deeper tissue penetration and the high forks (without resonators) are used above the body in the body's energetic field.

Acutonics® tuning forks are used as a pair, creating an interval between them, a ratio, a relationship, giving profound messages to the body/mind/spirit. The forks can be used effectively in many modalities, including on or above acupuncture points,  trigger points,  muscle insertion points, acupressure points, reflexology point, auricular points (with micro gem-tip adaptation), on hand su-jok points, points of pain etc. Tuning forks are an ideal way of delivering information with precision, wherever it needs to be applied.
